ARK Workshop manufactures a range of high quality, hand crafted wooden products. We use sustainably harvested and reclaimed wood. Our wood is handpicked from the floors of century old barns and buildings throughout South Africa. Each piece is unique, reflecting the natural beauty and distinct character of the wood grain.
When you invest in a solid wooden product from ARK, you invest in a handcrafted timeless piece that will be an asset to your home.
The aim for the business is to develop skills as well as to create job opportunities in underdeveloped communities by providing a platform for craftsmanship and economic growth. Social development and quality products is what we strive for.
FOUNDERS, FATHER & DAUGHTER:
ARK Workshop was founded by a father and his daughter. The business was born out of a love for wood. Pieter, an admirable woodworker, also farmer, learned the art of woodworking in Knysna. Imari graduated with a BA in Fashion in 2013, now she applies design principles to woodwork.
After a few months of making serving boards over the weekends we soon realised that we had a legitimate business on our hands.
Our team has been designing and crafting timeless products together that will grow more beautiful when used in the home. Our attention is to highlight the natural grain of the wood with our designs. We pay great attention to detail throughout each step of the process, from cutting and sanding the wood, to finishing it off with natural oils.
